    [edit] Acklay

An Acklay is a large non-sapient creature resembling a praying mantis. It is equipped with three eyes and 6 legs with four digits each, the fourth of which terminating in elongated scythe-like claws. As a carnivore, it possess a mouth full of long, sharp teeth. Its planet of origin is Vendaxa, but the Acklay has adapted to several other environments, including the lush floral landscape of Felucia, the planet where famed Jedi master Aayla Secura was killed, as well as the harsh deserts of Geonosis. One was loosed in the Petranaki arena and attempted to kill Obi-Wan Kenobi during the events of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, but was defeated by the Jedi Master when the Jedi reinforcements arrived. They can also be found in Star Wars: Battlefront II during the "Heart of Darkness" level on the "Rise of the Empire" mode. They also featured at various locations in the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies.

    [edit] Ash Angel

Ash Angels are one of the very few creatures that live on the harsh violent environment of Sullust. It stands just under 1 meter tall and has a wingspan of 2.5 meters. It survives by consuming ash. It has several eyes which it uses to see scrumptious ash "pellets".

    [edit] Asyyriak

The Asyyriak is a predator that lives in the forests of Kashyyk. It spends most of its time high above the forest floor and jumping from tree branch to tree branch. It ranges from 1 to 2 meters long and has a thin body that's no more than .35 meters in diameter. It has an elongated head with a pointed snout filled with sharp, grinding teeth. It is omnivorous. It has six legs, which are positioned along its very flexible spine, to provide a highly maneuverable frame. Each foot has four toes, each toe ends in razor sharp talons. Its body is covered with long brown and green hair, which lies on top of green skin.

Asyyriaks primarily prey upon avians and other small animals. A few small wookiee children are lost each year because of the Asyyriak. Asyyriaks hibernate during cold seasons, choosing hollow tree trunks for dens.

    [edit] B

    [edit] Bandara

Bandaras, which are also known as sandbar dwellers, are beetles from the planet Devaron who live in huge unyielding swarms on sandbars and beaches. Their unified mating call during the summer can be unbearable to hear.[1]

    [edit] Bantha

    Main article: Bantha

The bantha is a colossal, shaggy, mammalian mount with circularly-curved ram-like horns, Herds of woolly banthas inhabit the desert wastes of Tatooine in the outer Rim, as well as grasslands and plains of other worlds throughout the Star Wars galaxy. Since banthas are found in such a large number of agricultural systems, it is believed that early space settlers transported the species to new worlds. Although largely domesticated, on some planets wild herds can still be found. There are several known varieties of banthas in existence, including the common bantha (Bantha majorus), the smaller, shy dwarf bantha, and the rangier, slender dune bantha. One specific subtype of bantha is the Kashyyyk greyclimber, which differs from its tatooine cousin in that the greyclimber has massive cranial bone plates in place of horns; it has also adapted to climbing through the evolution of articulated toes that can grip wroshyr trees. The common bantha is by far the most numerous, but as banthas are found on a multitude of worlds, more subspecies may yet be discovered in the Star Wars universe. Generally beasts of burden, the tall, gentle creatures are intelligent, dependable, and trustworthy. They are extremely strong, able to carry up to five hundred kilos of cargo, or five human-sized passengers, including a driver. Because of their rocking gait, many first-time bantha riders have been known to complain of motion sickness. Although banthas prefer to move at a slow pace, they can run at great speeds when necessary, and stories of banthas stampedes are commenplace on all the worlds they inhabit. Banthas are extremely adaptable, abiding comfortably in all sorts of climates, able to survive for weeks without food or water. From world to world, batha subspecies vary in size, colortaion, social groupings, behavior and metabolic specifics but one commanality is that surprisingly, these mostly gentle giants are herbivores. On Tatooine, banthas live on meager sand lichen mats found either in protected hollows or just under the sand. Due to their size and internal stores, they can live for nearly a month without sustenance. In addition to being beasts of burden, banthas are a valuable source of nourishment for many cultures. Bantha meat is edible, and their skin and long, thick fur can be used for clothing. Bantha-skin goods such as boots and luggage are expensive luxuries on some planets in the Star Wars universe. Furhermore, Bantha bones and horns are carved by members of several cultures to make tools, ornaments, and toys. Banthas exhibit many of the traits typical of herd animals. Wild banthas have been known to gather dead in bantha graveyards. When attackd, they usually flee, and most bantha species will only fight in defense of the herd and their young. In the event that they are trapped, or when young banthas must be defended, male banthas will form a circle around their calves and cows, using their large tapering horns and three-meter-wide size to protect the herd. They strike by lowering their heads and ramming their large spiral horns into an attacker. Some cultures have taken advantage of the bantha's horns and bulk by using domesticated breeds as beasts of war, spurring them to charge at foes and trample them underfoot. On Tatooine, woolly banthas have been left to roam free in the harsh desert climate, and the species has flourished. they are the transportation of choice for the native Tusken Raiders, who have a special and unique relationship with their mounts. Upon reaching the age of five, a Tusken Raider is teamed up with a young bantha, and the two develop an emotional bond that lasts a lifetime. If its master dies, a "widowed" bantha will often fly into a suicidal rage. The tribe then waits until the bantha tires of its rampage, afterward turning it out into the wilderness to survive on its own. usually, the unfortunate bantha dies of grief and dehydration. Likewise, if the bantha mount is the first to perish, the Tusken Raider to whom it was bonded will become inconsolable to the point of ruthlessly attacking others in the clan, or even taking his or her own life. If such Tusken Raiders do not die from their despair, they are sent out into the desert on a vision quest, to contact the spirit of their fallen bantha partner. If the bantha companion guides them to the afterlife, they will expire in the barren wastelands of Tatooine. If, however, their former mount wishes them to live, it will guie them to a new, riderless bantha, which then becomes their new companion. Tusken Raiders who return with a fresh mount are given high honor in their communities. In the teräs käsi fighting technique mastered and favored by Darth Maul, one of the moves is called 'Charging Bantha.' Banthas can be seen in video games and the movie Star Wars: A New Hope. In some star systems, Banthas can grow up to 5.0 meters.

    [edit] Blenjeel sand worm

The sandy, uncolonized world of Blenjeel appears to have no lifeforms, until prey sets foot on the sand. Gigantic carnivorous caterpillar-like creatures with round mouths filled with sharp teeth, called Blenjeel sand worms, inhabit the planet, and will consume the unwary stranded traveler. The worms are blind, but can detect motion. They are somewhat like the Wandrella. In one of the Jedi Knight games, Kyle Katarn battles a much bigger sand worm with six longer, sharper claws, while in Jedi Academy, Jaden Korr must repair his or her ship by scanvenging parts strewn over the sand, avoiding sandworms using Force Speed. They are analogous to the sandworms of Dune. Screenshot of a Blenjeel sandworm The Blenjeel sand worm somewhat looks like the character "Jeff the Worm" from Men In Black II.

Some were transported to Telos to aid in the restoration project on the surface after it was bombarded by Darth Malak, where they were sent to keep the herbivore population under control. However, when Czerka Corporation started to take control of the planet, and the Ithorians running the planetary restoration project were pushed back, the cannoks ate all of the herbivores, and soon began attacking anything they could.

    [edit] Canyon Krayt dragon

Canyon Krayt dragons are a subspecies of the krayt dragon that live in the rocky caves and canyons of Tatooine's desert ranges. 10 m (33 ft) tall and 30 m (98 ft) long, the canyon krayt represents the smallest of the krayt subspecies. An evolved hunter, the four-legged canyon krayt possesses a yellow-brown camouflage skin pattern, a five-horned crown ridge, a face armored with dermal bone plates, and a spike-studded tail. They continuously grow throughout their lifespan, growing stronger with age. They usually feed on womp rats, eopies, and lone banthas. They are viciously singe-minded and will chase their prey until they catch it or until it escapes the boundaries of the mountains. They have also been known to hold a slightly yellowish green crystal inside of them. A Colo Claw Fish.

    [edit] Colo claw fish

Colo Claw Fish are immense underwater carnivores that dwell in the porous caverns of the Naboo core, appearing in The Phantom Menace. Natural phosphorescence give its eel-like skin an eerie glow. They have flattened flukes for bodies, with a large toothy snout flanked by hooked grasping claws, hence the name. It can grow up to 193 meters in length, mostly made up of hypersensitive tail tissue that detects movement. While hunting, the colo uses chin lures to attract prey, then screams with special organs in its throat to sonically stun prey. The colo can then dislocate its jaws to swallow oversized food. Once injested, weak stomach acids and poison assist in the stupefication of live prey.

The colo claw fish's lethargic digestive process means it hunts less than the other underwater predators of Naboo's depths, but is no less dangerous. If threatened, the colo will lash out with amazing speed. The beast can release a bizarre hydrosonic shriek that stuns its prey. Its bite delivers a powerful poison to further immobilize its victim. They also have immense jaws hinged to allow the swallowing of large prey whole. Its temporomandibular claws help push prey down its throat, and its stomach expands to hold large amounts of food. After gorging itself, the colo retreats to its cave dwelling to hibernate and digest. Representations of the aquatic monster have been part of the Naboo folk culture for ages, often used to symbolize distrust and fear. This fish is also in a downloadable location (ancient research faculty) for Star Wars Battlefront 2.

    [edit] Conduit worm

The conduit worm is a long worm that lives in the electrical wiring channels of underground Coruscant and thrives on the electrical currents sent through them. They may also be attracted to the electric activity in brains, if they do not find a stronger electrical power source to feed on. As such, many a person has awoken on Coruscant to find one of the worm's feelers creeping into their ears. The worms can end up on starships, causing power outages, and are treated as vermin.

    [edit] Cracian thumper

The Cracian Thumper is a widely used bipedal beast of burden used on human-populated worlds throughout the galaxy, including Jomark. It is named for the sound it doesn't make, as it makes very little sound while running. It is a central component of the Rebel Alliance's program of live mount scouting, and Cracian Thumper racing is a popular sport.

    [edit] Croator

The croator, a creature native to Wyndigal II, a planet with extreme ultraviolet radiation exposure, is an asexual, flightless avian-like creature with reflective plumage and an unusually long proboscis, used to inhale tiny fish and insects for food. Travelers on Wyndigal II often use croator plumage as anti-radiation protection.[1]

    [edit] Cthon

The cthon is a zombie-like sentient humanoid that, believed to have evolved from another humanoid creature. Like the ogre, it feeds off the flesh of others. It has huge ears, enabling it to find its way around the perpetually dark Coruscant underlevels, but no eyes, as it has no use for them. Cthons live in small groups and attack the unwary, trapping them with electro nets and devouring them.

In the novel Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter, the Jedi Padawan Darsha Assant, the information broker Lorn Pavan, and Pavan's protocol droid, I5-YQ, were being tracked by Darth Maul and were captured by a group of Cthons, though they escaped when I5-YQ was re-activated and 'screamed.' The sound, horribly painful to humans, caused absolute agony to the Cthons due to their overlarge ears. While Maul was tracking them, he too was attacked by the Cthons; however, he killed eight or nine, sending the rest running for their lives.

Dewbacks are large reptilian creatures native to Tatooine. They are commonly used as beasts of burden. They are active during the day but sluggish at night, when temperatures drop on the desert planet. They were used by the Empire's Sandtroopers while searching Tatooine for R2-D2 and C-3PO. Dewbacks were later used to patrol Mos Eisley after the Sandtroopers "pacified" the planet. To control these huge beasts, Sandtroopers, such as Darrik Jelso, used large polearms called static pikes. These monstrous lizards get their names from licking the dew off other herd members backs early in the morning.

    [edit] Dianoga

Dianoga, also known as garbage squids, are large, highly adaptable cephalopods capable of growing up to 10 m (32.8 ft) in length. They have a spherical body, seven tentacles, a mouth of inward-pointing teeth, and one large eye on a stalk. They originated in the swamps of planet Vodran, but can now be found in many watery trash or sewage disposals on any planet in the galaxy, living off of any present organic matter. They are primarily scavengers, and only pose a threat to living creatures when starving or frightened. One dianoga tried to eat Luke Skywalker in the Death Star's trash compactor, while Dash Rendar had to deal with several of these creatures, including a giant one, in the sewers of Imperial City. Like sharks, dianogas are attracted to movement and splashes in the water. They vary from green to brown.

    [edit] Draagax

Draagax are pack hunters that hunt in the equatorial grasslands of the planet Relkass. Apart from hunting small rodents, these animals also consume wild sentinel plants. When the plants bloom in the dry season, they provide the draagax with a narcotic that sends them on a berserker frenzy, attacking everything in their path.[1]

    [edit] Dragon snake

Dragon snakes are long, ferocious creatures, native to the swamps of Dagobah. To one of them is attributed the attack on R2-D2 in The Empire Strikes Back. In the teräs käsi fighting technique mastered and favoured by Darth Maul, one of the moves is called 'Dancing Dragon Snake.'

Drexl are giant creatures that are usually green, and have teeth the size of human arms. They are native to Onderon. The adult form can fly, and is used as a means of transport and defense by the planet's Beast-riders. Drexl larvae are unable to fly, but are strong and extremely fierce. They appear in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.

    [edit] Duracrete slug

Having been spread throughout the galaxy by freighters and cargo ships, Duracrete slugs dig tunnels into building foundations and feed off of the concrete in there. Some specimens have been known to reach 10 m (32.8 ft) in length. They can consume almost any kind of concrete because the parts they cannot digest are excreted into armor nodules on their bodies.

    [edit] Dweebit

The dweebit is a small, reddish-brown beetle, native to the Yuuzhan Vong galaxy. Dweebits could be used as weapons. When they were put onto Belkadan, they emitted extremely noxious fumes that made the planet uninhabitable.

    [edit] E

    [edit] Eopie

    An Eopie.

Eopies are 1.75 meter tall herbivores native to the planet Tatooine, appearing in all three prequel movies, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds and Star Wars Galaxies. The quadruped mammals are distinguished by their pale skin and long flexible snouts (it looks rather like a Macrauchenia). An eopies's pale, white skin helps keep the creature cool by reflecting the intense sunlight of the planet's twin stars. A special hinged skull allows for a very flexible, elongated snout and a broader range for sharp incisors. Eopies get most of their moisture from desert lichens and tubers.

Eopies reach maturity around six standard years of age and their average lifespan is 90 standard years, however like most creatures, the animal weakens with age. Young eopies are much more vulnerable to the harsh desert conditions of the twin-sunned world. A young eopie needs to consume more food than a mature one and is also unable to carry as heavy a load. Newborn eopies are slow and awkward and are preyed upon by some of the more dangerous creatures of Tatooine. Older eopies are kept by the planet's moisture farmers to eat desert weeds that absorbs the planet's already valuable moisture. They are also used as transports across the vast desert plains of the arid planet. They also have imperturbable dispositions, reacting to surprises with mild interest instead of panic.

Eopies are renowned for their endurance and ability to carry a lot of cargo. They also have a reputation of being stubborn or grumpy creatures. This however, could be attributed to their owners, who often push these animals to the limit, packing them with extremely heavy loads.

    [edit] Ewok

    Main article: Ewok
An Ewok with his primitive spear and miniature size

The Ewok is a small, sentient furry creature who lives in trees on the forest moon of Endor. They live in villages hung hundreds of feet off the forest floor, and are very primitive. (source:Medstar duology, Legacy of the Jedi.) Reptilian sentients with the ability to give off pheremones which can affect many species in the desired manner. their skin usually changes color when they give off pheromones. Some pheremones given off work through the skin, due to their protein based nature. They are average height. Some have been known to be force-sensitive.

    [edit] Falumpaset

    A Falumpaset

The Falumpaset is a large mammal native to Naboo, appearing in The Phantom Menace, The Gungan Frontier, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, and Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine. They roamed the plains and swamps of the planet in large herds, and their distinctive call could be heard for kilometers around. Easily domesticated, falumpasets were popular mounts all over the galaxy. They were, however, known for their stubborn and uncooperative temperament.

The Gungans used them to pull their Battle Wagons at the Battle of Naboo. In the following victory parade, Boss Nass rode a falumpaset through the streets of Theed. For in-universe details, see the StarWars.com databank entry.

    [edit] Fambaa

A Fambaa with a Gungan shield generator

Fambaas are the largest terrestrial herbivores of the Naboo swamp, appearing in The Phantom Menace, The Gungan Frontier, Star Wars Galaxies, Star Wars Battlefront, and Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds. Fambaas are technically amphibians but have the scaly hide of reptiles. These creatures can easily knock over trees to get at leaves and berries. They also forage for underwater plants.

Fambaas in the wild travel in herds of up to 102. They are born with moist skin and gills and upon maturity their tails grow, the gills disappear and their skin hardens. The Fambaa has been domesticated by Gungan for millennia as beasts of burden and cavalry/artillery draft breasts. In wars and battles such as the Battle of Naboo, Fambaas were seen as mech units, being used to carry portable shield generators for protecting their armies. The main breeding herds are so large they are traditionally swamp pastured in sacred areas. There are also special Fambaa stables inside underwater bubble cities. Occasionally these animals suffer predation by the Sando, they are in fact the only natural predator of the adult faamba. Females lay large numbers of sticky, gelatinous eggs, which they deposit in puddles and underwater. The young hatch with moist skin and gills then, upon maturity, the gills disappear and their skin hardens. For more information, see the Fambaa entry on StarWars.com.

    [edit] Forntarch

Forntarchs are carnivorous, predatory rodents on the planet Gorsh, who await their prey in trees, and then leap down and impale them with razor-sharp forelimbs.[2]

    [edit] Furnocs

Furnocs are pack hunting predatory lizards that live on Gestron.

    [edit] Fynock

Fynocks are avian creatures that can be kept as pets. They look like exotic birds with snake tails. Fynocks live on Talus. They do not have appendages besides their wings and they have large suckers on their face. Very close relation to a Vynock or Mynock. Mynocks can be seen in Episode V when Han lands the Millennium Falcon in the asteroid. The Vynock are an offshoot of the Fynock breed that are much more agile and also live on Talus and Corellia.

    [edit] G

    [edit] Gammorean

Gammorrean are humanoid creatues with pig-like features. Most are about 1.8 m tall, and weight about 100 kg. Distinguishing features include green or brown skin, yellow tusks and horns, a pig-like snout and jowled cheeks. Jabba the Hutt used Gammorreans as guards and enforcers.

    [edit] Ganjuko

Ganjuko are massive, furred predators found predominantly on planets in the Filve sector and Bothan worlds, and can grow more that 3.5 m (11.5 ft) tall and 5 m (16.4 ft) long. Despite their 600 kg (1,320 lbs) mass, they can outrun most Humans in a sprint. They are protected by thick external skull plates and beaks, reinforeced by thick layers of cartilage, and finally covered over all parts of their body except on its head by thick fur.[1]
