This template originates from discussions between Wikipedia:WikiProject Disambiguation and Wikipedia:WikiProject Anthroponymy regarding whether and when to split one-name content (lists of people sharing surname or given name) from disambiguation pages or not. See for instance Category talk:Disambiguation pages in need of being split.

This template has the same syntax as, for instance, {{split}} (as of 4 July 2008).

Minimum syntax: {{splitdab}}
Preferred syntax: {{splitdab|article 1|article 2}}

Apply as a transcluded hatnote.

Use of the template places the article into Category:Disambiguation pages in need of being split, which is a child of Category:Disambiguation pages in need of cleanup.
